NRCan launches free “50001 Ready” program for continual energy improvement

Back to News

Launched by Natural Resources Canada, 50001 Ready is a self-paced, no-cost way for organizations “to build a culture for continual energy improvement that leads to deeper and sustained savings that does not require any external audits or certification”.

Canadian industrial facilities and buildings participating in 50001 Ready can improve facility-level performance, reduce GHG emissions and achieve energy cost savings.

Central to the program is the 50001 Ready Navigator tool, explains NRCan, which provides step-by-step guidance encompassing 25 tasks that can help energy managers implement an ISO-based energy management system.

(Developed by the U.S. Department of Energy, the The Navigator tool has been adapted for the Canadian context, in collaboration with NRCan.)

Once the 25 tasks are complete, participating facilities and buildings may be eligible for 50001 Ready Canada recognition, and may be designated as “Ready-recognized”, whereby NRCan recognizes them for their energy management leadership.
