2022 NW SEM Collaborative Fall Workshop Recap

Back to News

Thank you for a meaningful and inspiring event

Thank you so much to all of the participants, funders and volunteers who made the Northwest SEM Collaborative Fall Workshop an inspiring, engaging, and truly collaborative in-person event. And a special thank you to our workshop sponsors, Cascade Energy, Energy 350 and CLEAResult.

2022 Fall Workshop Highlights:

Exciting Collaborative News
The Collaborative Leadership team announced their recommendation for the NW SEM Collaborative to join the North American Collaborative in a regional partnership model beginning in 2024. This arrangement would connect our regional SEM practitioners to national resources while preserving the Northwest SEM Collaborative Fall Workshop and Northwest Working Groups. As the announcement was made in the early stages of a developing partnership, there are many details yet to be established and communicated. For a breakdown of developments to date, please take a look at the NW SEM Collaborative Business Plan.

In-Person Collaboration and Discussion
Of the many opportunities to convene with colleagues, survey participants selected the World Café and Open Space sessions as the highlights of the day. While World Café created space for smaller, group discussions on predetermined SEM topics, the Open Space sessions focused on topics chosen by attendees in real time. Fourteen topics were discussed in total, including developing an energy efficiency workforce, creating a more inclusive community, and using bottom-up calculations as an M&V method. Posters developed at the open space sessions can be downloaded here.

Working Group Presentations

All four Working Groups shared the results of their collaborations over the past year, including:

Measuring SEM Growth and Impact in the Region
The Evolution of SEM Subcommittee of the Leadership Team presented their work from the last few years to better measure and understand the ways SEM is evolving in the Northwest. They presented on the key metrics and data sources they’ve identified to inform their work. Evolution of SEM will soon display some of their initial findings and data through a publicly available PowerBI dashboard on SEMHub.com.

We look forward to continuing our region’s impactful SEM collaboration with this community and its volunteers through next year’s Working Groups and at the 2023 Fall Workshop.

Many thanks,

The NW SEM Collaborative Leadership Team and Fall Workshop Planning Committee
