Energy Management Information Systems (EMIS) are software tools that store, analyze, and display energy consumption data. The market is characterized by a growing pool of EMIS vendors and varying levels of rigor and analytical approaches employed by the tools. To assist its utility stakeholders, the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) contracted with PECI to develop an EMIS inventory document features that could support utility programs and financial transactions based on energy efficiency improvements. NEEA initiated this project to develop an inventory for industrial applications as a way to clarify the capabilities and options for EMIS-enabled measurement and verification (M&V), and to encourage incorporation of EMIS into industrial Strategic Energy Management programs.
