Washington state has set a net-zero carbon emissions limit by 2050. To meet that ambitious target, building sector emissions must be reduced by 95% in less than 30 years.

What must the building sector do between now and 2030 to get on the path to 2050?

On January 5, 2022, the Clean Energy Transition Institute in partnership with the 2050 Institute will release Operation 2030: Scaling Building Decarbonization in Washington State. This white paper lays out the technical analysis for how Washington’s buildings must decarbonize and recommends milestones and a timeline for implementing a decarbonization strategy by 2030.
